Guest Post with Lauren from Style Like Hers

After exchanging messages on Twitter myself and the lovely Lauren from Style like hers decided to do a guest post swap. I have seen these floating around and always thought they were such a good idea to not only get to know fellow bloggers but to also give their blogs a bit of recognition. I myself love Laurens style and definitely will be taking inspo from her in the future, so with that lets get to it!

Outfit:
Fedora - Topshop
Cardigan - Primark
Crop top - All Saints
Jeans - Topshop
Sliders - Primark
Ring - All Saints
Sunglasses - Primark
Weird pose - god knows

Introduce yourself.
I’m Lauren, the girl behind the stylelikehers blog. I’m just about to turn 19 and I am a London law student living in Essex. I'm basically pretty weird, love doughnuts, Harry Styles and burning plastic!

What made you get into blogging?
Mainly out of boredom and a need to fill a void. I spend lots of time reading blogs and watching youtubers that I thought it would be fun to join in! I’m very glad I did because I love it and it’s so much fun! The ladies of the blogging world are all so lovely too!

Who are your fashion and beauty icons - can be from youtube, blogs, celebs.
I am a massive fan and follower of Lily Melrose from llymlrs.com – absolutely love her blog, her youtube account and her style, she is such a massive inspiration for me.
I also am a big lover of Brittany Lee Saunders – she’s an Australian beauty guru with heaps of personality and is so gorgeous! I find that accent really relaxing right now so am also on a massive shaaanxo spree! I also love to watch essiebutton, fleurdeforce, straberryelectric and beautybaby44.

What is your holy grail product and why?
My Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation – absolutely love this product! The coverage is excellent, lasts really well and doesn’t look too cakey on the skin! I love this product so much that I will happily swallow the £35 price tag!

What is a beauty or fashion related product you regret buying and why?
Collection (2000) ‘Big Fake’ mascara – I saw many rave reviews about this cheapo mascara but for me it was a massive flop! It did nothing for my lashes and instead made them short and clumpy messes! I know it was cheap and I guess sometimes you really do get what you pay for but it was such a waste of a fiver!

What is your everyday go to hair style?
Down and straightened with a bit of salt spray in it just to give it a little bit of texture a body so that it isn’t pin straight – such a standard for me as I can be so lazy with my hair, especially when I’m running late! It’s mainly because my hair is kinda long I think – I’m considering cutting it short like Louise Thomspon but just can’t gather up the guts to do it!

Are you a tea or coffee kinda girl?
I drink more tea than coffee but sometimes you’re just in the mood for a coffee ya know? It also depends on the kind of tea bag, I mean, Waitrose sometimes have some lemoney tea bags in their machine and I just don’t want those things in my life thank you very much!

What is your summer style staple you are loving at the moment?
My Primark pool sliders are being well loved right now! (Both the Birkenstock copies and the black slip ons!) I have to say I recently got a really long ankle length cardigan from there (seen in the photo) and am in love with it! I’m also loving my striped Pull & Bear dress and my Rae dress from All Saints!

Are there any current trends you simply cannot stand?
I can’t say I’m a massive fan of the gingham trend – mainly because I look like a five year old whenever I try and pull it off!

What is your favourite thing about blogging?
The interaction and just how lovely everyone in the blogging community is just so lovely! It also is such a massive help when you’re having a beauty crisis and are in need of some advice, help or second opinion from someone that isn’t your mum or best friend!

Hope you enjoyed getting to know Lauren a little better and be sure to follow her to stay posted!

The Liebster Award

After what seemed to be a super long shift at work, to come home to see that I had be Nominated for the Liebster Award by Necesssary Nothing, was a lovely surprise! I have seen this award when browsing blogs, and to be nominated is super exciting. The concept of this is that you nominate bloggers that have under 200 followers that you feel deserve to be highlighted to the blogging community.
So big thank you to Corinne for the nomination!

Once you are nominated you must comply with the following rules:
1) Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on yours.
2) Display the award on your blog.
3) Answer the 11 questions asked of you by the person who nominated you.
4) Nominate 5-11 other bloggers who you feel deserve the award (who have under 200 followers).
5) Create a new list of questions for your nominees to answer.
6) List these rules in your post (you may copy and paste them from here).
7) Inform the people/blogs that you have nominated them for the Liebster award, providing them with a link to your post so they know what they are to do next

The Questions that were asked by Corinne

1) Where do you live? Do you plan on Staying there?
Being a student I split my time between Liverpool and Shropshire, and to be honest I'm loving it, its the best of both worlds. I'm able to get the 'hussle and bussle' of city life whilst i'm at uni and then am able to come back to the green hills of Shropshire for a bit a peace and quiet during holidays.

2) How did you get the ideal for your blog name?
As I'm sure many of you out there understand deciding on a blog name can be quite a difficult task and one that I myself really struggled with. You want something short and catchy, but not something you're going to look back and regret in a weeks time (I'm guilty of this, I was originally Chloesays.) Candidly Chloe was something that just came to me, I thought it was perfect so It stuck.

3) Who are two bloggers that inspire you the most?
I'm really inspired by The Sunday Girl, I love her honesty when writing about products, as when researching a product I want to buy, I like to know the In's and Out's of the products before spending my hard earned cash and I feel her posts really do help that process. Another who is my absolute favourite is Buy Now Blog Later I love a good OOTD, and hers is full of such inspiring outfits, I love her style (She's also a lover of a good nude.) Her Life in Dubai also looks super amazing, so be prepared for tinges of jealousy when reading.

4) What is your dream job?
My dream job, hmmm' well i'd really love to work in the fashion and beauty industry but exactly what I'm really not sure, there are so many exciting jobs in the sector I just need to explore exactly which is for me.

5) If you could only buy make-up from one brand, which would it be?
Oo this is a toughy, but I would have to go for Estee Lauder, they are a great all rounder brand, and their double wear line is a god send for owners of oily skin like myself. Their lip products are also so on form, i'm currently lusting over the vivid shine range.

6) If you could make one crazy change to you appearance, what would it be?
I'll be 100% honest with you here, and some people do say i'm crazy for wanting to change it, but one thing I have wanted to change about myself since forever is my nose. You know that one thing that everyone has that they just don't like..well yep thats my nose. Its got a conk in it which was made worse by me walking into a door and breaking it - yep good one Chloe. I know some people are against plastic surgery but I'm just not one of those people, now I don't know whether I'd actually be brave enough to actually go through with doing anything about it but it is something that is in my mind to possibly think about doing in years to come.

7) What is your favourite type of candy?
I absolutely love peanut butter and everything to do with it, so my favourite candy is 100% anything to do with the brand REESES, cups, white chocolate, bits, cereal...all of it..so yummy!!

8) What is your favourite category of make-up?
I have really begun exploring and expanding my skills with eyeshadow as of late, even to the extent of doing a crazy smokey eye just for a plain old night in front of the tele. I love shaddows with a Frosted look to them, to give a pop of colour in the centre of a smokey look. So my answer is eyeshadow.

9) What do you do to relax in your spare time?
I'm the type of person who loves to keep busy, I hate being bored. So my idea of relaxing is spending time with my Friends, whether we're off out for dinner, or just sitting around doing nothing, it really is a huge de-stresser for me.

10) What do you like the most about blogging?
My favourite thing about blogging is that shock/happy/excitement feeling you get when you see your pageviews shoot up, or get new followers. I love the feeling that people are actually liking what I'm doing, and wanting to read more. So yes, 100% thats my favourite, but I do also love exploring other blogs and making friends through blogging.

11) If you could live a year in any location, where would it be?
Italy! It's somewhere I have never been but I'm desperate to go to, the food, the culture, the history, just thrills me. I'm also quite the lover of the warmer climate so that would certainly keep me a happy Chloe.

My Nominations go to:
Liv at Liv - In Style
Naomi at Better Ni Than Never
Zeena at Zeena Xana
Sophie at Stitches Of Style
Lauren at Style Like Hers

These are all blogs, that I love to keep up with so be sure to take a look!

My Questions for you guys are:
1) Where did you get the idea for your blog name?
2) One piece of advice you would give the younger you?
3) Three Bloggers that inspire you the most?
4) If you had to choose one make-up or hair product what would it be?
5) What is your staple fashion piece?
6) What is something you are passionate about and why?
7) Favourite food, you just couldn't live without?
8) Favourite holiday destination?
9) What is your dream job?
10) Do you collect anything? Magazines? Vintage books?
11) Coffee or Tea?

Big thank you again to Corinne for the nomination.

Bvlgari 8092B Sunglasses - Tortoise Shell

Just a quick post today guys - I'm in the process of doing a guest post blog swap with the lovely Style Like Her, so lots of editing images, and planning posts going on at the moment, but keep your eyes peeled for that post as it should be up within the next few days.

But onto this one first eh!?

Last year I splurged on these gorgeous Bvlgari sunglasses, I had forever been buying cheap sunglasses and just not getting the level of protection I needed for my eyes - So with this, and the additional thought of they're an investment, and also being something that I could use for years to come, why the hell not!

I took forever choosing frames that suit my face shape, going from RayBan Aviators, Chanel 5278's, you name them I tried them on. I finally settled on these, with a a slight cat eye effect in the full tortoise shade - I was in love. Not only are they amazing (I'm Biased) they work fabulously with almost every outfit, which of course is a plus!

The only thing I can say has slightly disappointed me is how fast the ear pieces have become loose, maybe this is because I do wear them so often, and I know they're easy to tighten up again, its just it's a bit of a ballache really - But other than that, nothing but good things to say about these.
I would 100% return to the Bvlgari brand if I were ever looking for a decent pair of sunglasses again.

These Sunglasses also come with a hard case, with the Bvlgari logo on a small silver plate, in addition to this they come with a cream Bvlgari embellished cloth to clean.. perfect! :)

What are your favourite sunglasses, High Street, or High End?

Clinique Anti-Blemish 3-Step System Review - My Skin Savior

About two months ago now I began my journey with Clinique, I was at my wits end with my skin being so temperamental with little to no control over breakouts and when they would occur. I had tried almost every face wash on the high street, doctors creams and nothing seemed to have the desired effect, then I read about the 3-step system. Now, there are a lot of mixed reviews online, but in my mind everyone has different skin, and what may not work for one individual may work for another. So I took the plunge and headed to my local counter in John Lewis.

After a conversation with the lady we agreed that with my super oily and very blemish prone skin, I needed the anti-blemish range. I began my months trial for the ever so reasonable £25,and in the trial you receive your three steps - Cleansing Foam, Clarifying Lotion, and All Over Clearing Treatment (It's a Moisturiser)

So 2 Months in, my opinion? By far the most amazing acne product out there! But being honest it wasn't all fun and games for some time, the lady did warn me that this product does make you skin worse before it gets better, and my goodness it definitely did! I was getting spots all around my mouth - which is an area I have never before got them. In addition these weren't your average run of the mill spots, they were deep sore spots that take forever to go and are impossible to cover up, but I remember being told this is the product working giving your pores a deep clean! I feel like this is the point where a lot of people give up on the system, as it is really a horrible phase, but I was determined that It was going to work for me and plowed on. Now at about the 3/4 week mark, to my delight, they all of a sudden disappeared. Unfortunately I am still suffering with the scarring from these but they are fading slowly but surely. I am now at a point where I do feel comfortable enough not to wear foundation on a day to day basis, which to be honest was my aim from all this, so I am over the moon!
I've now got my eye on a few more of the Clinique skin care range to explore the benefits of the brand!

Here is a quick in's and outs of the products within the range -

Step 1 - Cleansing Foam
This removes any make-up your wearing in addition to any oils on the face, with one or two pumps at the most, I am able to do my whole face and neck area. I was a little apprehensive as to if it would actually take my make up off, but it really does with the added affect of leaving a lovely clean feeling to the face. It has no fragrance but does have a slightly medicinal smell to it which I love!

Step 2 - Clarifying Lotion
With the ingredients of Salicylic acid and alcohol this acts as both a toner and an exfoliater. I've read that some people find that this drys their skin out, but for me with extremely oily skin this dry feeling is what I want. If you do have a spot it does sting a little but that sting lets you know its doing its job! The lady told me to apply it in a downward motion so that the optimum amount of product gets into the pores. Again it has a slightly medicinal smell. In addition, it is very important to give the bottle a good shake before use since the Salicylic acid tends to sit at the bottom.

Step 3 - All Over Clearing Treatment
I have no idea why they call this a clearing treatment, its a moisturiser! As you may be able to see from the first image, I have no full size third step, no clearing treatment. For me, this was a pointless step, it was nor aiding or hindering the spot clearing process, so I've swapped it out for a bio-oil based moisturiser to help with my scaring.

Have you tried anything from the anti-blemish range? Has it worked for you?

You can buy your trial here for £25, or buy just take a browse at their full range here.

Summer Whites - OOTD

Here is a quick OOTD, I'm heading out to a local National Trust attraction - Erddig. So be sure to check out my Instagram for some pictures!!

Whenever I go shopping I'm always attracted to the same colours, White, Black, Cream, and this dress was no different. I bought this White lace beauty from H&M last spring and I've certainly got my moneys worth from it. Its perfect to dress up and dress down, and to wear to an array of occasions. I decided to go quite simple with my outfit, accessorising with H&M sandles, and a Primark necklace. Being honest, jewellery is never something I normally pick up when shopping, I don't know why but I never have, but after reading so many blog displaying beautifully styled statement necklaces, I may have to start investing!

A better view of my Primark "C" necklace.

Hope your enjoying this sunny Sunday as much as I!

Chloe xx

P.S Ignore the beyond awful roots, they're getting sorted ASAP!
